More than 600 Knox County seniors came out to Tommy Schumpert Park for the 5th Annual Healthy Living Senior Appreciation Picnic. Senior citizens were treated to a free barbecue lunch with sides, live music, free Mayfield Ice Cream, and a mini-health fair. Green Mountain Coffee also provided coffee for the event.
“Our seniors have spent their lives working and serving their community and their country, and they deserve to be thanked for all they have done and continue to do,” Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett said. “The Knox County Senior Center staff, our private sponsors and volunteers all came together to make this year’s picnic a great event.”
The mini-health fair included free blood pressure checks, information about estate planning, and senior health and fitness education.
