The Tennessee Valley Fair is pleased to welcome R&B super group Boyz II Men to Homer Hamilton Theatre on Friday, September 16 at 8:00 p.m.
Based on record sales, Boyz II Men are the most successful R&B group of all time, having sold more than 60 million
albums worldwide. In the 1990s, Boyz II Men found fame on Motown Records as a quartet. Currently, the group is a trio
signed to Decca Records, with original members Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris, and Shawn Stockman. The group won
four Grammy Awards in the 1990s, and the trio was nominated for two Grammies in 2009, following the release of their
album, “Love.”
Boyz II Men formed at the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts in 1988. In the 1990s, Boyz II Men
gained international notoriety after achieving unprecedented success on the pop charts. The group's first single to reach
number 1, 1992's "End of the Road" reached the top of charts across the globe. "End of the Road" set a new record,
staying at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for thirteen weeks, breaking a decades-old record held by Elvis Presley.
Boyz II Men would exceed even that record later in the decade with hits: "I'll Make Love to You" and "One Sweet Day"
featuring pop superstar Mariah Carey, which each exceeded records for the longest period of time a single remained at
number 1. As of 2010, "One Sweet Day" still holds the all-time record with sixteen weeks at the top of the Hot 100.
Although "On Bended Knee" did not exceed any records, this very popular song that reached number 1 and made Boyz II
Men the third artist (other than The Beatles and Elvis) to replace themselves at the number one rating of the Billboard Hot
100. Because of this, Boyz II Men are the only artists that have stayed at the number one spot cumulatively 50 times, just
fourth behind Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and Mariah Carey. These achievements were enough to earn Boyz II Men
recognition as Billboard Magazine's most successful musical group of the 1990s.
Having celebrated their 20th anniversary together in 2010, Boyz II Men are still going strong. Their new single “More
than you’ll ever know” was released on August 30, 2011. The group will sing all their hits on September 16. Reserved
seats for Boyz II Men are only $15.00 and can be purchased by calling (865) 215-1482 or by visiting
www.tnvalleyfair.org. Hurry, this show will likely sell out. The 2011 Tennessee Valley Fair runs from September 9-18.

The Tennessee Valley Fair is pleased to welcome alternative rockers Sister Hazel to Homer Hamilton Theatre on Monday, September 12 at 8 p.m.
Sister Hazel's creative train keeps rolling after more than 15 years in the music business. 2009’s well-received "Release"
reached the band's highest ever spot (#37) on the Billboard Album Charts, topping even their platinum 1997 album
"Somewhere More Familiar," which spawned the hits “All For You” and “Happy.” In 2011, they are keeping the
momentum going with their latest release "Heartland Highway," marking the band's quickest album-to-album turnaround
in their lengthy career.
Sister Hazel formed in Gainesville, Florida in 1993 and was named for Sister Hazel Williams, a local nun who ran a
homeless shelter. The band rose to fame with their second album, “Somewhere More Familiar” which was released in
1997 and sold approximately 30,000 copies through its initial pressing, prompting Universal Records to sign the band.
Universal re-released “Somewhere More Familiar in late 1997 driven by the single "All For You" which hit #11 on the
Billboard Hot 100 and remains the band's most successful single.
The band still hits the road regularly, performing around 100 dates annually to maintain close ties to their fans. After all
their years together, the band is feeling like they're reaching new milestones with "Heartland Highway." "We are all in
groove. We have all things rolling along," the band says. "I feel like we are stepping into our heyday."
Reserved seats for Sister Hazel are only $7.50 and can be purchased by calling (865) 215-1482 or by visiting

The remnants of Tropical Storm Lee blew through East Tennessee on Monday,
September 5, bringing torrential downpours and depositing over 6 inches of rain in Knoxville. Portions of the fairgrounds
at Chilhowee Park have flooded as a result.
The majority of the 81 acre Chilhowee Park is drying out, but significant flooding has occurred near the Lake Odyssey
area known during fair time as Kiddie Land. During the fair, Kiddie Land is home to the Little Ponderosa Zoo,
concessionaires and the fair’s selection of kiddie rides.
Another problem spot is near our Action Sports Arena adjacent to Prosser Road, near the entrance to the Knoxville Zoo. Fortunately, our Action Sports Arena (which is home to our popular Tractor Pull, Demolition Derby and Rodeo events) has not flooded.
The Tennessee Valley Fair staff is working closely with the City of Knoxville, who owns and manages Chilhowee Park to
quickly and safely pump the water out of the park. We anticipate that the majority of the water will be gone within 48
hours.
Should the flooding not fully recede by Thursday afternoon, the Fair has a plan in place to move Kiddie Land tothe “Old Midway Side” of Chilhowee Park, located on the other side of Magnolia Avenue. Many fairgoers will recognize this as the area that used to house our Midway, prior to 1998.
The Tennessee Valley Fair will go on as planned and will open Friday, September 9 at 3:00 p.m. Fairgoer safety is
our top priority. Please be assured we are doing all we can to resolve this issue and provide a safe and pleasant
environment to the nearly 140,000 guests expected to attend the 2011 Tennessee Valley Fair.
We will issue news alerts as this situation progresses.
